Bullet Train Project: Financial bids for the construction of 8 km viaduct were openedMumbai Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project: Infrastructure major Larsen - Toubro (L-T) emerged as the lowest bidder for the design and construction of an 8 kmviaduct in Gujarat and theVadodara station for the country's first bullet train corridor.TheNational High-SpeedRail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) - responsible for implementing the high-speed rail corridor,opened financial bids for the design and construction of the viaduct, which includes the high-speed rail (HSR) station at Vadodara.The financial bids of twotechnically qualified bidders were opened and M/s Larsen - Toubro Limited emerged asthe lowest bidder, said NHSRCL in a statement.
The technical bids of this tender were opened on October 5,2021.Recently, the first full-span pre-stressed concrete (PSC) box girder spanning 40 metres was erected in a casting yard in the Navsari district of Gujarat.
The 40 metre full span box girder weighing around 970 MT, involving 42 MT of steel was cast in a single piece - without any construction joint on November 1, 2021.It is also the heaviest pre-stressed concrete box girder in the country's construction industry.
To speed up the construction of viaduct for the country's first bullet train corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, NHSRCL adopted the full span launching method.Larsen - Toubro's built equipment was used to launch the girder - which hasdesigned using state-of-the-art finite element analysis software.The 508 km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor will operate at speed of 320 km per hour, passing through areas in Maharashtra, Gujarat, as well asDadra and Nagar Haveli.
The entire distance is expected to be covered in two-three hours and will cover 12 stations along the route.
